Bank of America
Designed and developed a web-based Digital Dashboard to view the progress of projects across the organization in real time.
The Client
Bank of America is a global financial services firm that operates in three segments : securities (underwriting, trading, mergers and related services); asset management; and credit services (specifically, the issuance and servicing of credit cards) and real estate loans.
The Challenge
With the Bank managing many IT projects across numerous geographical locations, the need for coordination that fosters better communication and collaboration was essential. Pcubed was commissioned to worked with the Global Commercial Investment Bank to design and implement a web-based digital solution that included Microsoft Project 2000, Project Central and several key data sources across the organization. The specific challenges of the IT project included:
- Standardize project management practices across the organization
- Establish metrics and gates for each phase of the project workflow
- Map project management processes to CMM
- Streamline and access project data from different data sources and platforms across the organization for executive level reporting purposes
- Provide visibility of resource requirements and utilization
Other key challenges included:
- No consistent time capture mechanism across the organization
- Many disparate standards and processes across the organization
- Project data was spread across many sources, platforms and divisions
The Pcubed Solution
Pcubed established guidelines for each phase in the project lifecycle to measure progress, value and ROI. This allowed bank executives to make early 'kill' decisions before substantial amounts of money were spent on an initiative. They also helped Bank of America establish a project initiation process, with clear guidelines on how to take an initiative from 'idea' to 'reality.' Significant components to the solution included:
- Designed and developed a web-based Executive Digital Dashboard where upper management and bank executives can view the progress of projects across the organization in real time
- The creation of built-in metrics, decision criteria and workflow allowing executives to make critical decisions using up-to-the-minute project data
- A comprehensive mapping of the entire project lifecycle and workflow to CMM
