The Client
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Florida (BCBSF) is the largest healthcare provider in Florida. Based in Jacksonville, BCBSF offers healthcare choices that include traditional indemnity health plans, PPO products, consumer-driven products and wellness programs. BCBSF and its family of subsidiaries serve more than 6.6 million Floridians and employ more than 9,500 people statewide.
The Challenge
In a continuing effort to upgrade the healthcare of its members, BCBSF's Six Sigma organization was looking for processes to support customer and business needs around project management. In addition, collaboration of program/project work needed to implement complex corporate initiatives. BCBSF required a system-wide method to provide various ways to view, obtain and report on complex program data that would correlate with corporate initiatives.
Other key challenges included:
- The integration of all BCBSF resources with PeopleSoft
- To provide a two-year project management process and technical roadmap strategy
- The elimination of an outdated business engine and replacement with Project Server 2003
The Pcubed Solution
Pcubed's solution included strategy, processes and technology that allowed BCBSF to integrate the Project Management process with an Enterprise-class tool. And to provide various ways to view, obtain and report on complex program data that tie into corporate initiatives. To achieve this solution Pcubed implemented the following initiatives:
- Incorporated a streamlined process (PPFM) and Software Development Life Cycle program
- Enabled Six Sigma Quality Management Group
- Integrated Resources with PeopleSoft
- Provided two-year PM process and technical roadmap strategy
- Stand-down outdated Business Engine and replaced with Project Server 2003
- Refined and incorporated corporate process (PPFM) and Software Development Life Cycle process (Summit, RUP, etc.)
